Duck & Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant is a Mandarin-focused eatery tucked just off Windsor’s Victoria Street, offering a straightforward, family-run dining experience that draws in locals looking for familiar Chinese flavors. The atmosphere leans towards casual and welcoming, with staff who evidently take the time to engage with guests and check in on their satisfaction—a touch that adds a homely vibe beyond the usual restaurant interaction.

The menu covers a broad range of classic Chinese dishes, with particular attention to dim sum selections like prawn dumplings and crispy duck, alongside mains such as sweet and sour chicken, salt and pepper spare ribs, and Mapo tofu. Portions are generous, catering well to those aiming to share plates or enjoy a hearty solo meal. For those after more refined wine options, the selection includes some approachable rosé choices from Italy and Spain, supporting a comfortable mid-range price bracket.

While the food receives mixed feedback—some finding the ribs and dim sum enjoyable, others noting occasional inconsistencies like blander vegetable dishes—the overall feel is of fresh ingredients and an earnest effort in the kitchen. The chef’s personal touch is evident, with instances of making tailored dishes and personally checking guests’ meals, which hints at a close-knit operation that values customer input.

Duck & Dim Sum is best suited to diners who appreciate a no-frills, service-oriented environment where you’re treated like part of the family rather than just a customer. It’s a good spot if you want to stop in for a relaxed midweek dinner or order in for a festive occasion; the Christmas Day takeaway experience was reported as notably satisfying.

Overall, visitors can expect a modest, unfussy setting that feels approachable rather than polished or trendy. It may not compete with high-end or large-scale Chinese restaurants in the region, but it holds its place well for those prioritizing warm service and classic dishes with familiar, recognizable flavors in Windsor.

The service was excellent and really nice staff working at this restaurant. They made the effort to talk to people and made everyone welcome. The price was probably right for what you get in terms of quantity and average cost for Chinese food. The best food we had was the salt and pepper ribs - really delicious . My main of pork and rice was not as good - the food was bland and the vegetables not cooked enough. However another member of our party had king prawns and rice which was excellent. Overall it was good.

We visited Duck & Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant this week for the first time after hearing good things online. The customer service was absolutely excellent, we were made to feel very welcome and well looked after from start to finish. The staff were lovely and the Jasmine tea was beautiful. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t as good as we hoped. It wasn’t the best Chinese we’ve had, and the prices were quite high for Windsor. VAT isn’t included in the menu prices, and we ended up paying over £55 for two mains and a tea to share. The atmosphere could have been better too, there was no background music and we were the only customers there, which made it feel a bit awkward. Also, staff were chopping large amounts of raw onions on the restaurant floor, which made our eyes burn and water the whole time. It was very uncomfortable and quite odd that the prep wasn’t done in the kitchen. Overall, amazing customer service but disappointing food and atmosphere. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

We ordered on Christmas Day and it was absolutely fabulous. Everything was excellent. We had the 虾饺 prawn dumplings, 香酥鸭 crispy duck, 炸虾片 prawn crackers, 姜汁西兰花 sautéed broccoli with ginger, 椒盐羊排 salt and pepper lamb ribs, 幸运饼干 fortune cookies, 鸡丝米粉 fried vermicelli with shredded chicken, 姥鸡 sweet and sour chicken, and 大虾炒面 fried thin noodles with king prawns. We were honestly just expecting a standard meal, but it far exceeded expectations—better than most Asian places in our area. The food was simple, fresh, not overly sugary, and full of lovely, well-balanced flavours. Sorry no photos as we cracked into it when we got home.

Absolutely amazing. Dillon who served us was so polite, friendly and helpful. The chef came and spoke to us which is a lovely touch. He specially made a dish for me and it was amazing. The food was tasty, good portions and most of all, FRESH ingredients. Will definitely visit again. Exceptional

Cosy experience like eating in someones front room! Staff friendly and attentive. Thought food was a bit bland, although crispy aromatic duck was fine! Thought jasmine tea was quite expensive at £3.60 per person. Service not automatically included. No pressure to vacate table.
